Check the fit before you choose your cricket kit.
Player height and body measurements are more useful than age alone. Use this guide to decide what to measure, then compare with the exact product’s sizing information.
Cricket bat sizes
Junior bats commonly progress through sizes 0–6, followed by Harrow and adult Short Handle. Some makers offer other sizes.

The player should be able to lift and swing the bat without losing technique. Do not oversize a junior bat just to allow for growth. See the Cricket Bat Buying Guide for weight, balance and materials.
Cricket helmet fit
Check the size range and adjustment instructions for the specific helmet.
Measure the head
Use a flexible tape around the widest part of the head, passing across the forehead above the eyebrows. Keep the tape level and snug, then compare the circumference with the model’s size range.
A junior or adult label alone is not enough to determine the correct fit.
Check the fitted helmet
Follow the supplied instructions for the strap, padding and grille. The helmet should feel secure without painful pressure or moving excessively. Check visibility and the manufacturer’s requirements for the ball and type of cricket played.
Batting pads & protective guards
Check the coverage in a batting stance and while moving, rather than only standing still.
Batting pads / leg guards
Follow the product’s measurement method. Where the chart asks for knee-to-ankle length, measure as directed rather than substituting total height. Check that the knee protection aligns with the knee and the pad does not obstruct ankle movement.
Check right-handed or left-handed options where offered.
Thigh, arm & other guards
Use the listed size range and adjust straps as instructed. A guard should sit over the intended area without sliding or interfering with movement. Check it alongside the pads and clothing the player will wear.
Batting & wicketkeeping gloves
Check each model’s hand-sizing method and whether handedness is required.
Batting gloves
If the product asks for hand length, measure from the base of the palm to the longest fingertip. If it asks for circumference, measure around the widest part of the hand as instructed. Do not convert a measurement into a size without that model’s chart.
Fingers should sit comfortably without excessive empty space, and the player should be able to grip the bat securely.
Wicketkeeping & additional kit
Wicketkeeping gloves and pads have different designs from batting equipment. Check the specific fit guidance and allow for any inner gloves normally worn. For clothing, use the garment measurements on the listing.
